Upper
Merion and PlymouthRailroad Co.
Served by Norfolk Southern connection. Established in 1907 the UMP provides rail service to the Bethlehem Steel Corporation's plate mill in Conshohocken, PA, and to Philadelphia Newspapers Inc. The UMP tracks span the Schuylkill River from the plate mill facilities to a connection with the Norfolk Southern, with much of its inbound steel being provided by the Coatesville facility. The mill is part of the former Alan Wood Steel plant. The railroad takes its name from the Townships of Upper Merion and Plymouth, located north of Philadelphia, and offers various sites for transloading opportunities.
