The Cumberland Valley Business Park contains 20 miles of rail, providing access to existing buildings and developable land. Rail service within the Park is provided by BethIntermodal, part of the Bethlehem Steel Subsidiary Railroads. BethIntermodal provides the switching service to the facility, and operates two large classification yards, which makes the location ideally suited for trans-loading, temporary storage, and other rail served activities. Two 80-ton locomotives are maintained at the Park to ensure prompt service. BethIntermodal interchanges with CSXT at the southern edge of the Park. Norfolk Southern operates on a former Conrail line from Harrisburg to Hagerstown, MD. A newly constructed runaround track in Shippensburg, PA allows NS to interchange with CSXT for Park customers. The Park's
proximity to these Class 1 carriers, coupled with its two large classification
yards, makes it an attractive location for trans-load, temporary storage
and other intermodal activities. The Cumberland Valley Business Park consists of 1,000 acres of land, ideally suited for modern industrial use. Existing facilities include more than 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
