the Business Development Team
BethIntermodal
has a dedicated business development team that works with you to create
individualized solutions that best meet your needs. The majority of
the team members have been in the transportation industry for a minimum
of 20 years. Our knowledge and expertise in this field is second to
none. Feel free to contact any of the team members if you have a questions,
comments, or a problem we can assist you with.
J. Michael Zaia, President
Mike
has been the President of the Subsidiary Railroad Companies since
1994. He is responsible for the nine rail facilities and our other
subsidiaries – BethIntermodal, BethTran, Carrier Express, and
RailQuest. Mike has been with Bethlehem Steel since 1965. His
extensive experience in the Steel and Transportation industry
includes the areas of operations, engineering, and maintenance.
Mike is also very active in the state and local community affairs.
Mike earned his Bachelors
degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University. He
is also a registered professional engineer and a graduate of the
Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School, University
of Pennsylvania.

Patrick A. Sabatino, Vice
President of Business Development
Pat
became Vice President of Business Development for the Subsidiary
Railroad Companies in April 1999. He is responsible for coordinating
the Subsidiary Railroads’ growth initiatives, including BethIntermodal,
Carrier Express and the Railroad operations.
Prior
to 1999, Pat held the position of Strategic Sourcing Manager for
Rail Transportation at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. His responsibilities
included strategic initiatives and negotiations for rail transportation.
Before that, Pat spent over twenty-one years with the Bethlehem Steel Subsidiary Railroads
advancing through various positions and responsibilities from
shop laborer to Assistant Superintendent.
Pat
earned his Bachelors degree in Management and Master of Business
Administration from Moravian College, Bethlehem, PA.

Gary R. Shields, Director of Business
Development
Gary
is the Director of Business Development for the Subsidiary Railroad
Companies. He is responsible for acquisitions, asset management,
and Federal and State government relations.
Gary
began his career as an industrial engineer at Westinghouse Electric
Corporation. He joined Bethlehem Lukens Plate Company (formerly
Lukens Steel Company) in 1973 as an industrial engineer and moved
to the Transportation department several years later advancing
through various positions of increasing responsibility. Gary has
over 20 years of experience in the Transportation industry.
Gary holds a Bachelors
degree in Mathematics from Point Park College, Pittsburgh, PA.

Robert S. Robine, Director of Marketing
Bob
is the Director of Marketing. He is responsible for the Subsidiary
Railroad's group marketing and advertising efforts, in addition
to pricing, publishing and maintaining tariffs, and handling all
traffic and rate related functions.
Bob
has over 31 years of broad based truck and rail experience in
the Transportation industry. His background includes truck dispatching
and rail analytical functions from a shipper’s perspective; and
rail operations, human resources, labor relations, administration,
marketing and business development from a rail perspective.
Bob has a Bachelors degree
in Transportation from Tri-State University, Angola, IN.

Donna T. Chaudhuri, Manager
of Business Development & Technology
New to the company and
the Transportation Industry, Donna joined the Business Development
team in May 2000. She is responsible for developing growth initiatives
with a focus on technology. Donna
has Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and a Masters in
Business Administration from Syracuse University with concentrations
in Marketing and Supply Chain.
Prior to joining the company,
Donna held an internship at United Technologies Corporation designing
a hub and spoke system for the distribution of light commercial
and residential AC units. During the interim between academic
degrees, Donna worked as an Office Systems specialist at the Controller’s
Office of Cornell University.

Tom
Hoffman was promoted to Manager of Business Development for the
Subsidiary Railroads April 2001. Tom is responsible for developing
growth initiatives for BethIntermodal and the numerous Railroad
operations.
Tom
started his career in 1981 at the Steelton & Highspire Railroad
as Division Accountant & Assistant Treasurer, and was elected
to the same position at the Philadelphia Bethlehem and New England
Railroad in 1983.
Tom
earned his B.A. degree in Business Administration from Gettysburg
College in 1978.
